Benson County Man Arrested After Allegedly Raping Woman

MINNEWAUKEN, ND (Valley News Live) – A Benson County man has been arrested and charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in his home.

Antoine Devon Griggs is charged with one felony count of sexual abuse. He was interviewed by a Benson County sheriff’s deputy and a Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) crime investigator on Sept. 1.

Court records show the alleged sex attack occurred between 8:30 p.m. and midnight on Aug. 29 at a home in Minnewauken.

The woman told law enforcement that Griggs raped her twice. She also said he put his hands around her neck during the assault.

Investigators say the victim has been interviewed several times since the incident and her recollections remained consistent throughout interviews with officers and a nurse. She also provided a detailed drawing that was verified by deputies and the BIA when a search warrant was executed at Griggs’ home.

Court documents say Griggs admitted to having sex with the victim on Aug. 29. He was arrested and booked into Lake Region Correctional Facility.

A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or surety and Griggs is scheduled to make his first court appearance on September 9.
