Rich Homie Quan, Atlanta rapper and creator of hit “Flex,” dies at age 34

Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper known for hits such as “Type of Way,” “Lifestyle,” “Ride Out” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” has died at the age of 34, according to reports from TMZ, Rolling Stone and other media outlets.

Rich Homie Quan, whose offstage name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died Thursday at his home in Atlanta, according to his family and a Fulton County morgue official, TMZ said. The Rolling Stone report also said a family member confirmed his death.

The cause of death for the artist, an influential solo artist and former member of the hip-hop collective Rich Gang, has not been revealed.

Rich Homie Quan has released one studio album in 2018, Rich as in Spirit, along with several mixtapes, EPs, and singles. He has also gained fame for his collaborations with other famous artists, including Gucci Mane, Boosie Badazz, Travis Scott, Yo Gotti, Jeezy, Omarion, and Young Thug.

Rich Homie Quan received BET Hip Hop Awards and iHeartRadio Music Award nominations from 2014 to 2016. He had 3.3 million followers on Instagram and 1.1 million followers on X (formerly Twitter). The artist’s last Instagram post was from September 2, and features a photo of Rich Homie Quan wearing glasses. The accompanying text reads, “Vision clear even through the BS.”
