Charred vehicle with driver inside on Katy Fwy leaves few clues for Houston police

HOUSTON – Police are trying to determine what caused a fatal crash that occurred in west Houston on Thursday night.

Investigators were called around 2 a.m. to a tributary of the Katy Fwy at Antoine Drive, where they found a badly burned and smashed car. Initial evidence indicates the driver hit a pole before the crash, and debris was also found inside.

Due to the charred condition of the vehicle, investigators said they don’t have much information, but they are reviewing surveillance footage from the area. The Vehicular Crimes Unit has been called in to assist.
