Witnesses wanted after the murder of Mussi Imnet

Detectives investigating the murder of a man attacked near Notting Hill Carnival have released photographs of 16 witnesses they would like to speak to.

Mussie Imnetu, 41, who came to the UK from Dubai where he lived and worked, was found unconscious with a head injury in Queensway, W2 at 11.22pm on Monday 26 August.

Officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived. Mussie was taken to a west London hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died on Friday, August 30.

Metropolitan Police detectives are investigating Mussie’s murder and have today released images of people they believe may have information about the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is progressing rapidly and a man has been charged in connection with the attack. However, we are still keen to hear from anyone who can help piece together Mussie’s movements between 1pm, when we know he left The Arts Club in Dover Street, W1, and 10.30pm, when he arrived at Dr Power’s restaurant in Queensway.

“We have photographs of a number of people who were in or near Dr Power’s restaurant at the time of the attack. Are you one of the people in the photograph, or do you recognise anyone? Did you hear or see anything before or after the attack that may assist the investigation?”

“I would like to emphasise that none of the people in the photo did anything wrong. They may have been enjoying the post-Carnival festivities and may not live in the area, but they may have information that is important to the investigation and I would urge them to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, text @MetCC to X or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 8020/26AUG. Please also include the number in the photograph you are providing information about.

Information can also be submitted online by visiting a dedicated appeals website.
