Canada: Young Phagwara resident Rajat Kumar dies in road accident in Brampton

Rajat Kumar of Phagwara, 26, died in a road accident in Brampton, Canada on Wednesday. Rajat was the only son of his parents and moved to Canada five years ago. The family received a call from his friends who informed the parents about the fatal road accident.

Family members said Rajat was driving to work when a speeding truck hit his vehicle. His friends said he died on the spot from his injuries.

His father, Varinder Kumar, said his son called them just before he went to work and within minutes they were informed of his death. Rajat had travelled to Canada on a student visa and obtained a work permit. The family had begun the process of bringing his body back to India for the last rites.
