Outrage over killing of Grade 12 pupil who was mistaken for cattle smuggler

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Wednesday criticised the killing of Aryan Mishra, a Class 12 student, by cow vigilantes in Faridabad. Aryan was mistakenly chased and shot dead, mistaken for a cattle smuggler.

A police source said Tuesday that the student was chased in a car on Aug. 23 and fatally shot by a group of five suspected cow-welfare activists who claimed there had been a case of mistaken identity.

All five accused, including Saurabh, Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna and Adesh, were arrested on August 28 and remanded in police custody for two days, according to a statement by Superintendent of Police (Crime) Aman Yadav. The five had wrongly identified Aryans and their accomplices as cattle smugglers before giving chase and opening fire.
