IMD warns of heavy rains in India, Telangana in easing condition

Weather forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several districts in India as rainfall intensity in Telangana is decreasing. The latest IMD bulletin highlights that heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts of Telangana on September 4, 2024. Moreover, thunderstorms with strong surface winds are predicted in Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubabad.

Detailed weather forecast for different regions

The weather in and around Hyderabad is expected to be generally cloudy for the next 24 hours. The city may experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds. Temperatures are expected to range from a maximum of 27°C to a minimum of 23°C.

The IMD also forecast heavy rains in Kerala and Mahe from September 2 to 4, and in coastal Karnataka on September 2 and 3. For northeastern India, the IMD predicts heavy rains from September 2 to 5 in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; from September 2 to 5 in Arunachal Pradesh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands; and in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 4 and 5. Heavy rains are expected in Bihar on September 4, and in Orissa on September 5 and 6.

Orange and red severe weather alerts

IMD has issued an orange alert for very heavy rains in East Rajasthan on September 7 and 8. Isolated heavy rains are also predicted in Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh. Besides, heavy rains are expected in West Uttar Pradesh on September 4 and East Uttar Pradesh on September 6. West Rajasthan is expected to receive heavy rains from September 4 to 8.

A red alert has been issued for Gujarat, specifically for Bharuch and Surat districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted, with periods of exceptionally heavy downpours, starting on September 4.

Update for Delhi

In Delhi, residents enjoyed sunny weather on Tuesday, with temperatures rising to 36.2°C, more than two degrees above the seasonal average. The India Meteorological Department has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in the city on Wednesday. The capital remains under a ‘yellow’ alert, indicating a potential deterioration in weather conditions that could disrupt daily life. Following morning rainfall on Monday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6°C, which rose even higher on Tuesday. Humidity levels ranged from 60% to 83% during the day.
