Operation Bhediya: Forest Department Intensifies Drone Surveillance Over Wolf Scare In Bahrain

In response to the recent wolf scare, the Forest Department in Mahsi Tepra village in Bahraich has deployed drones to monitor the area. “The team is working hard,” said Sanjay Pathak, Director General of the Forest Department. “We are using drones to monitor suspected areas and have set up cages at strategic locations. The work is on and we need everyone’s cooperation. We are currently operating three drones and have caught four of the six wolves.”

Villagers in Kulaila have begun patrolling with sticks to protect themselves from wolf attacks. Authorities held a meeting in Purva village on Tuesday to discuss protective measures. “They have advised us to be vigilant and protect ourselves,” said Uday Pratap, a resident of Purva village. “The police have told us to stay inside or on rooftops and keep our doors closed. Although we are scared, we are staying vigilant.”

The number of injuries in suspected wolf attacks in Bahraich has risen to 34, confirmed Dr Ashish Verma of Mahasi Community Health Centre. “All the injured have been treated; two have been referred to the district hospital and are in stable condition,” Verma said. The forest department is continuing to search for the remaining two wolves under ‘Operation Bhediya’ and is facing growing local frustration over the continuing threat.
