SAC CITY, Iowa (KTIV) — A northwest Iowa man was convicted last week of sexually abusing a minor.

As part of his sentence, Mesner will also be placed on Iowa’s sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

According to authorities, the sexual abuse occurred in November 2021 and was reported in December 2021. Mesner was arrested later in 2022 and charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. One of the charges was dismissed in court.

According to the district attorney’s office, Mesner’s 10-year sentence is the maximum penalty for a Class C felony under Iowa law.
