Mobility-impaired resident found dead in Marin County house fire

Authorities said a man’s body was found Monday in a southern Marin County home that caught on fire.

Firefighters and law enforcement officers found a resident inside a home in Tamalpais Valley after extinguishing the flames, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Division will identify the person after notifying his family. The coroner is also scheduled to perform an autopsy later this week.

A resident of the home reported the fire just before 12:40 p.m. on Monday.

He added that his roommate, who is unable to move on his own, was stuck inside when the fire broke out.

The sheriff’s office did not say how much damage was to the home.

The Southern Marin Fire District, Marin County Fire Department, Central Marin Fire Department and Tiburon Fire District assisted in extinguishing the fire.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
