Boy, 16, rapes 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh, sentenced to 14-day judicial custody: police

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

As per the First Information Report (FIR) filed in the case on August 21, the accused took the minor girl, who was alone in the house, near the spot where he allegedly raped her, said Chandrashekhar Yadav, in-charge of Chitbadagaon police station.

As he said, at the time of the incident the accused was visiting his uncle’s house and the girl lived nearby.

Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s father, the police have registered a case against the accused under Section 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Mr Yadav said.

The boy was arrested on Tuesday and produced before the Ballia Juvenile Court. The court sentenced him to 14 days of judicial custody at the Mau Juvenile Home.
