One dead, two missing after boat crashes into Old Saybrook pier

A Labor Day boating accident in Old Saybrook resulted in tragedy: One person died and two others were missing.

The accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. when a boat with nine people on board hit the jetty, causing significant damage.

As of 1 a.m., authorities confirmed one death and two missing people.

Six survivors were taken to hospital. The boat operator is in critical condition. The condition of the other survivors is unknown. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Old Saybrook Fire Department are investigating the cause of the accident.
