Class 12 student killed by cow vigilantes in Haryana

A Class 12 student, Aryan Mishra, was shot dead by cow vigilantes in Faridabad, Haryana, on Tuesday on suspicion of cow smuggling. Police have identified and arrested five people in connection with the incident.

Police said the incident took place on August 23, when the accused mistakenly chased Aryan’s car for 25 kilometres, thinking he was involved in cow smuggling. Multiple shots were fired and Aryan, hit in the chest, died of his injuries the next day, despite urgent medical attention.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime, Faridabad, Aman Yadav revealed that an FIR has been registered and the suspects — Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh and Saurav — have been arrested by the crime branch. The items recovered include a vehicle and the weapon used. ACP Yadav said further investigations were on and confirmed that there was no prior relationship between the accused and the victim.

The victim’s father, Siyanand Mishra, expressed deep regret and condemned the authorities for failing to prevent such violence. He questioned the validity of acting on mere suspicions, demanding answers from the government.
