Microphones damaged after arson attack on Meru church

A disturbing police report has revealed the disturbing details behind an arson attack at the East African Pentecostal Churches of Kenya, Kianjai chapter in Meru County.

According to the report, investigations revealed that a certain Pastor Daniel Mururu forced his female parishioners to perform sexual acts.

“The pastor allegedly ordered the women and girls to be undressed, their pubic hair shaved, their breasts sucked and the women and girls to have sex with them in the church,” the report reads in part.

“The orders were carried out by the church elders and the sacristans.”

The report refers to statements from twenty-three witnesses. It states that a minor of 17 years old was a victim of the pastor and is already five months pregnant.

“More than seven women between the ages of seventeen (17) years and seventy (70) years also allege that they were victimized by the pastor and his elders in the church, where they were indecently assaulted by sucking on their breasts, shaving their pubic hair and inserting fingers into their genitals,” the report said.

Officers believe the suspected pastor, along with church leaders, led a cult that manipulated their followers into committing horrific acts.

The church leaders allegedly threatened the congregation with ‘sickness and infertility if they ignored the pastor’s commands and prophecies.’

Further investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Officers have denied earlier reports that the arson was the result of a land dispute.
