An 18-year-old woman died in Oceanway after a truck veered off the road and hit a tree.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – An 18-year-old woman was killed Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Dunn Creek Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said the woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a truck that was carrying four other people aged between 17 and 22.

According to JSO, the driver failed to make a sharp turn and went off the road, driving through a barrier and hitting a tree just before 6:30 p.m.

The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries. Police said friends performed CPR on her but she died at the scene.

JSO said other passengers may have suffered minor injuries, but no one was taken to the hospital.

Police are still investigating whether speed played a role in the accident.

This is the 90th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 4th over the Labor Day weekend.
