They say there isn’t a day that goes by that they don’t think about their son. The Georges say they want their son’s legacy to shine brightly.

“He was taken from us in a cowardly, tragically disgusting way,” TeAnna George said.

Jahari’s parents say he was an active student at NSU, where he graduated as a top student in engineering.

“Jahari is a wonderful spirit. It’s hard for me to even talk about it as if it were real,” Michael George said.

George’s parents say Jahari graduated from Suitland High School in Maryland in the top five of his class. He was accepted to more than 20 colleges and chose NSU, a historically black college and university.

“This isn’t a conversation we should be having right now. This is the beginning of his senior year. This all happened in his junior year, but he’s in the class of 2025. So we should be celebrating him in a very different way this year,” TeAnna said.

Norfolk Police said officers found George shot dead inside a car on Gate House Road on September 2, 2023, near campus.

“He was minding his own business, parking in front of his room. Yes, it’s considered off-campus because of the street he parked on. But he parked in front of his dorm at home. It’s not bad place, bad time. They parked in their car. The car was on, but the lights were off. I think someone felt like, ‘Hey, someone’s coming to pick us up,’ and that was the end result,” TeAnna said.

Cameron Brown and Camari Warren have been arrested and charged with George’s murder. They are both in jail but have not yet appeared in court.

“What does justice look like for all of you?” News 3’s Leondra Head asked George’s parents.

“Accountability and people being held accountable. We definitely want this to go to trial. I’m not interested in any settlement because when you settle, you don’t get the facts, you don’t get the whole story,” TeAnna said.

Jahari is survived by his 15-year-old sister, Kyndall George, and his parents.
