The Boston Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in a shooting at a Dorchester barbershop that left one person dead and another injured on Monday.

Officers responded to reports of two people shot in Dorchester around 12:55 a.m. Monday, Deputy Inspector Paul McLaughlin said. When they arrived at the barber shop near the intersection of Eerie and Washington streets, McLaughlin said they found two adult males with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported both victims to nearby hospitals, where one of the victims died from his injuries, McLaughlin said. The other victim had non-life-threatening injuries, McLaughlin said. McLaughlin confirmed that both victims “appeared” to be customers at the barber shop.

“Based on the initial investigation, we do not believe this was a random event,” McLaughlin said. “We are currently canvassing the area, conducting a patrol, looking for witnesses.”

McLaughlin urges anyone with information or video of the shooting to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
