Repeated crimes reported in Baltimore street takeovers, including an arrest for vehicle theft

For the second weekend in a row, the Maryland State Police Motor Vehicle Rally Task Force, in conjunction with the Baltimore Regional Car Theft Task Force, monitored several motor vehicle display incidents.

These events are mostly known as street takeovers, where dozens of vehicles line the streets and perform donuts or burn rubber.

Similar to last weekend, multiple arrests were made in connection with multiple robberies that occurred throughout the Baltimore area.

A total of 11 arrests were made.

FOX45 is investigating the criminal histories of some of the people arrested, including 19-year-old Chase Cover of Halethorpe.

Cover was arrested Saturday and charged with vehicle theft.

He was one of three people accused of this crime.

Court records show Cover was charged in February with unlawful removal of a motor vehicle and having a handgun in a vehicle.

For these charges he was sentenced to four years in prison.

However, in July he was given a suspended sentence after the entire four-year prison sentence for vehicle theft was suspended.

Last Saturday, during a home invasion on the street, a man was charged with vehicle theft in Delaware.

Court records show he was charged in 2022 with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment and a long list of other charges.

Many of the people arrested in the last two weeks had previously been arrested during street takeovers.
