Prosecutor questions Ken Lim, says woman had no motive to falsely accuse him of sexual comments

Prosecutor questions Ken Lim, says woman had no motive to falsely accuse him of sexual comments

Ms Boppana also explained to Lim that his claim that the woman had a motive to falsely accuse him was “so implausible” that he could not explain her motive in his statement to police, describing her claim as “frivolous”.

Lim replied that he had already met his investigating officer several times when the statement was taken.

“I believe he had only one goal, which was to get me as many additional charges as possible, to give the impression that numbers would create a sense of guilt.

“So whatever I tell him, it makes no difference,” Lim said.

Ms Boppana said the defence had not raised this with the investigating officer when he testified in court, and called Lim’s claim “no more than a side issue, a convenient explanation”.

“I submit to you that the only reason the victim went through the whole investigative process, put her life on hold, flew back to Singapore to testify about what happened, and what you told her in the parking lot, is because everything she said is true,” the prosecutor said.

“I totally disagree with that,” Lim replied.

The trial continues on Monday. Lim is represented by Senior Counsel Tan Chee Meng, Mr Paul Loy, Mr Calvin Ong and Mr Samuel Navindran of Wong Partnership.

If found guilty of insulting a woman, he faces up to a year in prison, a fine, or both.
