Elderly Somerville man charged with assault

SOMERVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – An elderly Somerville man is in jail after authorities say he attacked his brother.

According to Somerville police, Somerville firefighters were dispatched to a home Sunday in reference to an assault. When they arrived, they found a man with serious injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital.

Investigators later determined there was an interaction between the victim and her brother, 74-year-old George Cannon. Cannon allegedly used a box cutter during the fight.

He was arrested and charged with assault.

Cannon was taken to the Morgan County Jail on $2,500 bail, where he remains.
